We believe that British grub is great. To us, pasta is past it, noodles are nothing and pizza is half-baked. We love the tried and trusted tastes of blighty. Not that we're little Englanders. Non, Nein! We’re partial to some exotic s&m now and again, tucking into Toulouse or Thai sausage when the fancy takes us.
We believe in value. Our prices will leave pounds in your pocket! This fair dealing extends to our suppliers. We buy locally whenever we can, using seasonal produce from sustainable sources.
We are equally concerned about food content. This means there are no modified starches in our food. We have reduced the salt content and watch the amount of colourings and E numbers we use. We make sure there are gluten free options on our menu, and that includes our very own House Onion Gravy!
We are proud to be involved with the Save Our Bacon campaign and thereby support the future of British Pig Farming, which has some of the highest standards of pig welfare in the world. Our sausages are supplied by Simply Real Sausages, an established London sausage maker who use only the finest British farmed pork and beef, ingredients of the highest quality and natural sausage skins. All of their pork comes from outdoor reared pigs; and happy pigs make tasty bangers!
Our pies are lovingly made by Rother Valley Organics, a family run business in Hampshire. They use only certified organic meat and produce beef from their own herd of over 600 Aberdeen Angus cattle. The cows live outside all year round, graze herb-rich meadow pasture and feed on silage and hay. This means that the pies on our menu are as fresh and tasty as possible!
Our ice cream comes from Beechdean Farm in Buckinghamshire. Made from the milk of Jersey cows raised on fresh Chiltern grass, it is free from artificial colourings, flavourings or additives, suitable for vegetarians and gluten free. The cows are well pampered and happy; and since they make such delicious ice cream, so are we!
Our coffee is not just fairtrade, its also organic and certified by the Rainforest Alliance. As for an s&m cuppa, its PG Tips, a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership.
From time to time we support local and national causes that we believe in such as Barts & The London Charity, Save Our Bacon and Olympics 2012.
